Structural properties and poles assignability of LTI singular systems under output feedback

چکیده
This paper studies the structural properties of both 3nite poles and the in3nite pole of linear time-invariant singular systems under output feedback. Three main problems are studied, namely, (1) the algebraic structures of both 3nite poles and the in3nite pole; (2) the assignability of 3nite poles and the elimination of the in3nite pole by output feedback; and (3) the controllability and observability of the system with minimal number of inputs and outputs. New generic solutions to these problems are presented in terms of some new concepts de3ned in this paper including the geometric multiplicity of the in3nite pole, the 3nite and impulsive output feedback cycle indices of the system. Determination of these multiplicities and indices are discussed. An assignability equivalence is established between the variable 3nite poles and the poles of a controllable and observable non-singular system. The number of the independent in3nite poles that can be reduced is given in terms of the system matrices. The minimal number of inputs and outputs that guarantee controllability and observability are shown to be the output feedback cycle indices. ? 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Structural Properties of LTI Singular Systems under Output Feedback
Generic results regarding the structural properties of LTI singular system are presented in this paper. These include the structure of the system poles (both finite and infinite), assignment of the finite poles, elimination of the impulse mode, and controllability and observability of the closed-loop system. These properties are characterized by some new concepts defined in this paper.
متن کاملSingular Perturbation Theory in Output Feedback Control of Pure-Feedback Systems
This paper studies output feedback control of pure-feedback systems with immeasurable states and completely non-affine property. Since availability of all the states is usually impossible in the actual process, we assume that just the system output is measurable and the system states are not available. First, to estimate the immeasurable states a state observer is designed. Relatively fewer res...

In this note we discuss the assignability of natural frequencies of LTI systems, given their Hankel singular values. For details we refer to [l]. Preliminaries. Consider the LTI system I=: k( t ) = Az( t ) + Bu(t), y ( t ) = Cz( t ) , A E PnX", B,CT E P", We will assume that C is controllable, observable, and stable. There are two important invariants associated with C: the natural frequencies ...
متن کاملRAPPORT Output feedback pole placement with dynamic compensators
In this paper we derive a new rank condition which guarantees the arbitrary pole assignability of a given system by dynamic compensators of degree at most q. By using this rank condition we establish several new suuciency conditions which ensure the arbitrary pole assignability of a generic system. Our proofs also comes with a concrete numerical procedure to construct a particular compensator w...
متن کاملStability and L2 Gain Analysis for Discrete-Time LTI Systems with Controller Failures
In this paper, we analyze stability and L2 gain properties for discrete-time linear time-invariant (LTI) systems controlled by a pre-designed dynamical output feedback controller which fails from time to time due to physical or purposeful reason. Our aim is to find conditions concerning controller failure time, under which the system’s stability and L2 gain properties are preserved to a desired...
